Halloween 2008

Hannah was all set to be Ugly Betty until the Monday evening before the holiday. At 8PM, she changed her mind and decided she wanted to be a princess. Unfortunately it was very expensive to try and get the costume ordered and delivered by our first party on Thursday evening. She called Nana and the rest is history. My mom, who is extremely talented, whipped up an amazing Belle costume in two days.

Here is my mom's summation...

Dress - $65
Vintage Pearl necklace from Brass Armadillo - $2
Seeing Hannah all dress up like Belle for Halloween (and having the memory of doing it for her) - PRICELESS

VOTE VOTE VOTE!!!

I had the priveledge of working at the election commission office today. I didn't know until it happened to me, that you are appointed to this service as one is with jury duty. Once you are called/drafted, you work four elections (3 to go!). I was given the option of working at the commission office with early voting ballots rather than at the polls on November 4th. I wasn't thrilled to be called but after having this experience, realize how incredibly lucky we are to be able to vote and how many precautions are taken to ensure that the process is fair and untainted. I know many people believe that they can't make a difference with their one vote, especially at a national level, but I noticed that so many people gave up their vote--particularly at the local and state level by leaving their ballots blank! What a shame.

I love this video...

Hannah is 10!!!

We drove to KC on Hannah's Birthday so that she could spend time with her dad (and mom too!). We went to her favorite burger place and Dad took her shopping at Hall's on the Plaza. I did some retail damage too - got two pairs of killer boots...Hannah got strep throat when we were away and fortunately we were able to get an antibiotic which kicked in by our drive home on Sunday. However, Saturday night we still had a great time at a local greek restaurant. Hannah loved when they started smashing plates and the belly dancer. We had a great weekend.

Summer Vacation - August 2008

We spent our summer vacation visiting my cousin Aleisha and her family in Los Angeles. We had a great time seeing Venice beach, riding bicycles, eating at the original hot dog on a stick and shopping. We also spent a whole day at Disneyland. We even got to experience a small quake! Hannah loved getting to know and spend time with Grace and Ivy. One night we went to a fun restaurant called Typhoon (check it out... http://losangeles.moleskinecity.com/?p=18)where we tried fried crickets--Hannah was a great sport. Aleisha and Matt were such great hosts and we had an awesome vacation.
